Day 2

A quick recap of our 2nd day in Paris.......

Slept 13 hours last night and was still tired today...feeling more normal now.  We went out for coffee/croissants at our new favorite boulangire/patisserie.  Then, went to grocery store (which is conveniently across the street) to buy a few items for the apt and back to the apt for some blogging on a rainy day.

We were feeling tired/lazy today, but finally went out again around 5 pm for a 6 mile walk around the city in the rain.  We came home, showered and went to dinner at an Italian restaurant in the neighborhood that Joe read about.  We tried to go to other French bistros on our street, but they were too crowded and we didn't feel like waiting.  The Italian place was really good, but tiny portions....I guess that's why the French are so thin....mostly everyone is very thin here, except for the American tourists which you can totally pick out of the crowd....I'm sure no one is mistaking us for French!

I will say that smoking seems down since our last visit where it seemed like everyone was smoking.

People are nice and most speak enough English to get by.  We are using a little bit of French...some we remember from our French lessons, but most of it is from this "iSpeak French" app that Joe downloaded on our Iphones. It's really amazing.  You can say things in English and it tells you the translation by speaking it and writing it and you can save the translations for future reference.  It has come in handy and it's been really fun to use.

Well that's the end of today.  We are going to Normandy tomorrow (Sunday.....Sam our Paris Pefect guy recommended that Sunday is a good day for a road trip as alot of places in the city are closed and traffic isn't bad).
