at the Avis rental car desk at Orly Airport. Not a great thing to realize on the second day of your trip, when you are in a city about two hours away from that airport. Gina and I tried to call the desk at Avis to see if it was there, but could not get anyone to answer. We went to the front desk of our hotel and the nicest young lady proceeded to call numerous numbers until she was able to confirm that the passport was indeed at the desk. Initially we were going to try and have them send it to the Avis office in Strasbourg (where we are going on Monday), but it soon became clear that that would be a risky proposition. Our friend at the front desk could hear the chaos going on at Avis and advised us to suck it up (my words, not hers) and drive and pick it up.
It wasn't quite the four hours we imagined for the afternoon, but we enjoyed the drive, and even took a few pictures of some of the
beautiful scenery between Paris and Reims.
We were back by 3:30, giving us time to have an enjoyable lunch on the back terrace of our hotel, before we walked a couple of hundred yards to the Pommery Champagne tour.
Here are a couple of pictures from our drive. We will update about the rest of the day, and our hotel later, too tired to go into much detail now.

We lost our passports...when we got home! Just found them today, about a day before I was ready to report them missing and go through the hassle.
Glad you found yours. This was some trip!
