Strasbourg Apartment

The A on the map is where our apartment is, 13 Rue du Maroquin, a very touristy area near the Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg.  It is in a charming building, a third floor walk up (2nd floor in France), the apartment is called the Oxford.  The building has 6 apartments.  A great place for vacation, but too busy to live in full time.

We have two restaurants right next to the front door of the building, and we usually have a couple of musicians playing classical french accordion type music, which Gina loves.  Better to hear it, rather than describe it.  These videos and picture were taken from our apartment window.  We are going to give these guys a good tip!

Despite the busy location, with the windows closed, the apartment is remarkably quiet.  It also has a good shower, with good water pressure.  The apartment is pretty big, and was actually a bargain (about 100 euro per night) compared to the hotels here and it has a washer for Gina, which she has already used.  The only downside is that it doesn't have air conditioning, or even a fan, and it has been hot.  It cools down at night, so sleeping wasn't too bad.  There are two bedrooms, the larger of which (that we wanted to use) did not have a blind or curtains.  So with necessity being the mother of invention, we hung a sheet from the other bedroom over the windows to provide shade.

We were actually able to set up our Apple TV here, so that we can surf (see picture of me blogging) and stream some shows to the tv that are on my iPad.  The ability to broadcast the screen from my macbook to the television allows this to be a collaborative blog, even if it is me doing the typing.

As is typical in France, the toilet is separate from the bathroom, our room in Reims had the same set up, so you have to travel to wash your hands.

The apartment has a fully equipped modern kitchen, with everything you need for your stay.

Here is an old time heater that would be handy if we came back in the winter.
